New York City Forever
After I finish my studies, I plan to stay in this country. First, I
have more opportunities here to get a job in New York than in Lima.
Second, I have better life here. Moreover, I want to be a pilot or soldier
in this country. I decide to stay because of these opportunities.
Having many job opportunities in this country is the best reason to
stay. I have worked here for fourteen months, as a waiter, then as a
cleaner and finally as a newspaper carrier. My uncle, who has lived here
for seventeen years, has had many kinds of jobs. Now, he has some business
with people from India. Opportunities are available for all people who
want to work here. The situation in my country is terrible because there
aren't
jobs, and also people are being fired. I plan to work here as an engineer
when I finish my studies. I couldn't do that if I returned to Lima.
People want a better life for their families an themselves. In fact, I
can get a better life in New York than in Lima. For example, everybody can
buy food so easily here, but in my country people don't have enough money
to buy food. Also, schools, American colleges and universities have
different range of price, but in my country it is difficult to find one
with a cheap or reasonable price. Moreover, people can't afford to
pay their tuition in my country because there aren't jobs. I must
study here first and then get a better life.
Lastly, knowing people from different countries is interesting, and New
York City is full of diversity. Living here enriches my knowledge because
everyday I learn something new from people from other countries who I met
in La Guardia. For example, I didn't know about people from Asia,
but since I came here, I have learned that they have many native
languages, and Koreans must serve in the Army. Living in New York is
interesting for me because I can know people from different countries.
In conclusion, opportunities in this country are very worthy and
important for me. I just need to finish my studies and then make a new and
better life in New York City.
